The Around the World BMW Riders adventure finished the passage of all Central America
The four BMW motorcycles have completed a total of 51.500 kms.
The route drawn up followed the Pan-American highway sometimes, but also many hundreds of kilometers by tracks of sand, mud and stone. Routes by the forest and the coast, next to volcanos and rivers, with suffocating heat or torrential rains, making it a real adventure. Throughout all the Central American passage the most remarkable natural places and corners of seven countries have been united. Evocative names like Forest of Lacandona and San Bartolome de las Casas in Chiapas, Lago Atitlán and Antigua in Guatemala, San Salvador, Tegucigalpa, Lake of Nicaragua with its volcano Madera, Reserves of the Biosphere of Costa Rica, the Central Mountain Range and the famous Channel in Panama, beaches of the Caribbean and the Pacific, the Straits of Darien and Bogota are some of the new references written in the road book of the BMW World Tour Relay.
Around all visited countries the riders lived unforgettable experiences, but mainly they enjoyed the human contact with Central American people. Resindents of each town or city have always showed curiosity with the passage of the four motorcycles and the children were the center of the closest curiosities. Riders received in addition and to continuous the affection of all the fans motorcyclists and the clubs of BMW whose members accompanied to them sometimes following part of their route for several days or only by single kilometers. Spirit GS Reay Around the World has lived in Central America memorable samples of friendship without borders.
The importers, concessionaires and BMW distributors of all the countries have been very pending of the passage of the motorcycles by their territories, following retail the trip and supporting all needed by the participants, on a fast and very effective way. One rear wheel puncture, and the substitution of a bearing of the transmission in Guatemala was the only incidences reviewed.
Finishing the Central America adventure, the squad number 12 will cross Colombia and Ecuador heading to Quito, from where the following team will continue the route towards the south end of America.
